  • Support grassroot actions for livelihood improvement of biodiversity and natural resource dependent communities like for fishers, salt workers, pastoralists and forest dwellers
  • Efforts to understand and revitalize traditional and non-codified knowledge systems
  • Valuation of ecosystem services including of wetland, grasslands and coral reefs
  • Studies, documentation and practical engagement with the institutional needs for understanding, sustaining, rejuvenating and enhancing of various traditional, folk and indigenous knowledge systems Policy analysis, interventions and advocacy initiatives specifically on land degradation, environment, climate change, gender and land rights
  • Interventions and studies for the gender equity and women’s participation as equal partners in all spheres of natural resource management
  • Use of Remote Sensing, GIS and other ICT tools for ecological and environmental research, and development and empowerment of rural and less privileged communities
  • Modelling of dynamic interactions of ecosystems and natural resource base, valuation of economic services of ecologically important systems
  • Working with grassroots initiatives to strengthen the institutional frameworks necessary for democratic self-governance that internalises concerns of equity, gender and sustainable resource management
